At Asbury, we offer many different opportunities to serve those in need.

The Salvation Army of Lee County, NC

On the first Monday of every month, we go to the Salvation Army to cook breakfast.  We also make sandwich bag lunches when they are needed. We accept donations for the Salvation Army including coffee, disposable plates, forks, coffee cups, eggs, breakfast meat, non-perishable food items and travel size hygiene items.  Anyone can donate items or help to make sandwiches and cook breakfast.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

Every year, throughout the year, we gather supplies for shoeboxes that are delivered all over the world by Samaritan's Purse. This ministry caters to children ages 2 to 14. The Samaritan's Purse Discipleship Program is also purchased and sent with every box. You can build your own shoeboxes with boxes that are provided by the church or you can donate items that we use to fill boxes during our packing parties. Everyone is welcome to make a box and/or donate items and join us for the packing parties. Acceptable items include: spiral/composition notebooks, coloring books, crayons, markers, colored pencils, regular pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, child scissors, rulers (foldable or small), toothbrushes, combs and brushes, hair ties, hair bands, bar soap, washclothes, small makeup type bags, socks, water bottles, sewing kits, small plush animals, small toys (wow items), pop its, bracelets, necklaces, dolls, small cards, tennis ball or other small balls, small figures, etc...

CORA Food Pantry:

CORA provides nutritious food to community members facing food insecurity. The ultimate goal at CORA is to build a community without hunger by collecting and purchasing healthy food for distribution through the food pantry, related programs, and network of local partners.  At Asbury, we gather non-pershiable food items according to what is most needed by CORA each month. Everyone is invited to donate items to CORA.  There is a bin at the church to place them in and they are delivered once each week.

Community Closet:

Once a year, generally in June, we provide a one day FREE community closet. Items are gathered from members and others that would like to donate. Items include clothing for men, women and children, shoes, toys, books, household items, kitchenware, linens, small appliances, lamps, etc...We usually start collecting items about 2 months before the community closet. You can assist by giving no longer needed items and/or volunteering during the actual giveaway.
